1. The BridgesEDU $1,000 Scholarship for Canadian Students

Deadline: June 30, 2025

Amount: $1,000

Who is this scholarship for? This scholarship is open to students attending an accredited Canadian post-secondary institution in September 2025. Graduate students are ineligible to apply. Applicants qualify if they are an:

  • Undergraduate student;
  • College student;
  • A graduating high school senior planning to enter an accredited post-secondary program in September 2025. 

From the Scholarship Donor: The BridgesEDU $1,000 Scholarship for Canadian Students is designed to help one winning applicant pay for education costs. At BridgesEDU Scholarships, our mission is to help Canadian students graduate with less debt and more career opportunities.

2. Brian Maxwell Memorial Scholarship

Deadline: June 9, 2025

Amount: Six prizes of $5,000 each

Who is this scholarship for? This scholarship is open to students attending an accredited Canadian post-secondary institution in September 2025. Graduate students are ineligible to apply. Applicants qualify if they are an:

  • Undergraduate student;
  • College student;
  • A graduating high school senior planning to enter an accredited post-secondary program in September 2025. 

From the Scholarship Donor: With the support of several organizations, OFSAA is proud to assist hardworking student-athletes finance their post-secondary education through our various scholarship programs.

Our scholarships recognize student-athletes moving on to post-secondary education in Canada, who are successful academically, involved in their school and community,  demonstrate leadership qualities, and have a financial need.

3. Phillip L. Turner Fire Protection Scholarship (2025)

Deadline: June 1, 2025

Amount: $5,000 

Who is this scholarship for? This June scholarship opportunity is open to students meeting the following requirements:

  • Applicant must be a full-time sophomore, junior or senior student currently registered and enrolled in the upcoming school year.
  • Applicant must be enrolled in a four-year program or a full-time master’s degree program in Fire Protection Engineering or Administration with an accredited university or college located within the United States or Canada and require in-person classroom learning.

From the Scholarship Donor: FAMA is offering one (1) $5,000 scholarship to a full-time sophomore, junior or senior student enrolled in a four-year Fire Protection Engineering or Fire Administration degree program or enrolled in a full-time master’s degree program in Fire Protection Engineering or Administration at an accredited four-year university or college located within the United States or Canada. Valid degree programs for the FAMA scholarship are based on traditional classroom learning.

4. AmericanMuscle Automotive Scholarships

Deadline: June 15, 2025

Amount: $2,500 

Who is this scholarship for? To be eligible to apply for this award, students must meet the following criteria:

  • Only students currently enrolled full-time in an American college, Canadian colleges, automotive engineering programs, trade schools, technical institute, or high school seniors planning to attend a college or post-secondary institution are eligible to be awarded a scholarship through this program.
  • Scholarships are restricted to those students pursuing an automotive degree or related field of study.
  • All applicants must include some form of proof of enrollment when submitting applications. 

From the Scholarship Donor: We are offering 2 currently enrolled students or high school seniors who are pursuing post-secondary education an opportunity to be awarded $2,500 in tuition assistance towards their upcoming semester! This scholarship is ongoing and will be available for both the spring and fall semesters each year.

5. Eon Essay Contest on The Precipice

Due Date: June 15, 2025

Amount: From $2,000 to $15,000

Who is this prize for? All students in the U.S., Canada, and the United Kingdom – high school students, undergraduates, and graduate students.

From the Scholarship Provider’s Website: The Eon Essay Contest is an effective altruism-aligned nonprofit; we believe in using reason and evidence to do good. We are raising awareness about the importance of avoiding existential risks. Existential risks are risks that threaten humanity’s entire future. Examples include pandemics, nuclear warfare, and asteroid strikes. We must avoid these risks to ensure future generations will flourish.

6. Fraser Institute Student Essay Contest

Deadline: June 5, 2025

Amount: Various categories and prizes for high school, undergraduate, and graduate students from $250 to $1,500

Who is this scholarship for? The contest is open to students studying in Canada and to Canadian students studying abroad. It is open to high school students and those attending a post-secondary institution. 

From the Scholarship Donor: Join the conversation, showcase your ideas on public policy, and enter our essay contest for the chance to win the grand cash prize! Winning essays may be published in Fraser Institute journals and authors will have the opportunity to experience the peer review process.

7. OTIP Bursary Program

Deadline: June 1, 2025

Amount: 20 student awards of $1,500 each

Who is this scholarship for? To be eligible for the OTIP Bursary Program, you must meet the following criteria at the time of selection: 

  • You or your relative must be insured through an individual or group policy of an insurance plan or program offered by OTIP. 
  • The student must be a full-time or part-time post-secondary student in a college, university, skilled trades, or technology program for the September 2025 to August 2026 academic year.

8. Canada’s Outstanding Young Farmer’s Program

Deadline: June 30, 2025

Amount: 2 awards of $1,000 each

Who is this scholarship for? Open to any individual in Canada pursuing post secondary education leading to a diploma or degree in agriculture.

From the Scholarship Donor: Canada’s Outstanding Young Farmers Program is proud to introduce the OYF Memorial Scholarship, to be awarded annually to two individuals pursuing post secondary education in agriculture. This scholarship is possible through the foresight of alumnus Martin Streef (Ontario 1996). Martin’s dedication to agriculture and the OYF program will help future generations pursue their passion for agriculture.

9. Electro-Federation Canada (EFC) Scholarship Program

Deadline: June 9, 2025

Amount: Various awards up to $3,500

Who is this scholarship for? This program has various awards with specific eligibility requirements. 

  • All applicants must be Canadian citizens or permanent residents who have completed their first year of a recognized university or college in Canada.
  • Have maintained a minimum 75% average* and be registered in a full-time 2025 eligible post-secondary degree or diploma program.

From the Scholarship Donor: The EFC Scholarship program provides post-secondary students who are interested in pursuing a career in the Electrical industry, with funding to support their academics.

If you’re a post-secondary student who is pursuing a career in Electrical Engineering, Electrical Technologist/Technician, Industrial Distribution, Sales, Marketing, Finance, Human Resources, Supply Chain/Operations, Logistics, Data Analytics Management or Information Technology – then consider a career in an industry that is committed to a safer, more environmentally-sustainable future for Canadians.

10. Workers Health & Safety Centre Scholarships

Deadline: June 1, 2025

Amount: Various awards from $2,000 to $5,000

Who is this scholarship for? This program is available to graduating high school students in Ontario who have shown a history of school and community activism. 

From the Scholarship Donor: All connected with the Workers Health & Safety Centre are committed to education – education in the workplace and beyond. To this end the WHSC has long offered student scholarships for post-secondary education.

Funds for these scholarships are raised from The Clifford Pilkey Memorial Golf Fundraiser in honour of our late founder and first WHSC President.

This annual scholarship contest aims to raise health and safety awareness among graduating Ontario high school students who are headed for post-secondary education—a segment of the workforce who face excessive and significant occupational hazards leading to work-related injuries and deaths.

10 April Scholarships for Canadian Students in 2025

April is a great time to find Canadian scholarships.

There are many prizes for graduating high school students and those already enrolled in college or university.

It’s important to know that there are many different types of scholarships, too. Of course, there are merit scholarships, which are based on academic performance and GPA. However, there are need-based scholarships, scholarships by major, school-based scholarships, and many more as well.

This means that good scholarship options likely exist for you or your student.

To help you with finding scholarships with April deadlines, we’ve picked 10 awards from our free scholarship finder. But before applying, always read scholarships terms and conditions. It’s also a good idea to understand what a scholarship committee may be looking for.

Scholarships with April Deadlines

1. BMO Capital Markets Equity Through Education Scholarship

Deadline: April 8, 2025

Prize Value: $5,000 USD for Canadian students

Who is this prize for? This scholarship program is open to: 

  • A current undergraduate or graduate student at a four-year university in the United States or Canada (the graduate program itself, e.g., business school, might be shorter in length);
  • Continuing studies as a full-time student in Fall 2026 with a minimum 40% course load;
  • Pursuing a degree in business/commerce, computer science, engineering, math, physics, statistics, or a related discipline
  • Interested in a career in Financial Services with a focus on Capital Markets preferred;
  • A person with a (visible or non-visible) disability (defined as someone who has, or considers themselves to have, a long-term or recurring, issue that impacts one or more major activities that others may consider to be a daily function); this definition also includes the perception among others that a disability exists. We know that 90% of disabilities on campus are invisible, and candidates with all disabilities are encouraged to apply.

From the Scholarship Donor’s Website: The future of banking starts with you. Lime Connect is pleased to be an Equity Through Education partner of BMO Capital Markets to provide scholarships for students with disabilities. Launched in 2005, Equity Through Education helps people achieve their dreams by getting the opportunity to develop themselves through education, and the program builds a diverse workforce. Selected recipients receive $5,000 USD (students in Canada) to support their future studies.

2. Loyal True Blue & Orange Home Scholarship

Deadline: April 15, 2025

Prize Value: $5,000

Who is this prize for? To be considered for the scholarship students must meet the criteria below:

1. Must be a Canadian citizen or permanent resident
2. Must be a resident of Ontario
3. Must be enrolled in a degree or diploma program in “child related studies” at any recognized publicly funded Canadian university or college.
4. Must be enrolled as a full time student 

From the Scholarship Donor’s Website: Children are amazing and every child deserves a safe, healthy and fun childhood. Children are our future and they are curious and capable of amazing accomplishments when they have the support of people to teach, mentor, protect and care for them. We want to be part of creating a future where there are amazing resources for all children. As a result we have developed this scholarship for graduating high school students and or students continuing into another year of college or university studying towards a degree or diploma that will provide support to children. This could include but is not limited to an RECE, Teachers, pediatricians, youth and child development workers, social services, speech and language therapists, guidance counselors, the list of child related support workers is endless and we will consider all applications from students who wish to reach their goal of graduating and entering into a field that will help support children’s needs.

3. CABEF Scholarships

Deadline: April 30, 2025

Prize Value: 7 awards of $2,500 each

Who is this prize for? This scholarship is open to full-time students enrolling or currently in an agricultural related program at a Canadian university, college or apprenticeship institution. Current 4th year or post-graduate students are not eligible to apply.

From the Scholarship Donor’s Website: CABEF awards seven $2,500 scholarships annually to full-time students enrolling or currently in an agricultural related program at a Canadian university, college or apprenticeship institution. These scholarships are funded through generous donations from agri-business and people involved in the agricultural and food industry.

4. Zonta Young Women in Public Affairs Award

Deadline: April 1, 2025

Prize Value: $5,000 USD

Who is this prize for? This scholarship opportunity is for women, aged 16 to 19. It’s open to current secondary school, college, or university students in a Zonta region (or be citizens of a Zonta country). Applicants must demonstrate the following: 

  • Active commitment to volunteerism.
  • Experience in local government, student government, or workplace leadership (paid or unpaid).
  • Volunteer leadership achievements.
  • Knowledge of Zonta International and its programs.
  • Support in Zonta International’s mission of building a better world for women and girls.

Applicants must apply through their local Zonta chapter. As a result, deadlines may differ. 

From the Scholarship Donor’s Website: Though about 40% of the world’s workforce is women, according to data from the Inter-Parliamentary Union, only 25.7% of all national parliamentarians were female as of 1 September 2021. Because Zonta International believes that young women are the key to women’s advancement in the field of public service, it offers the Young Women in Public Affairs (YWPA) Award, which recognizes young women, ages 16-19, for demonstrating leadership skills and commitment to public service and civic causes, and encourages them to continue their participation in public and political life.

5. Sarah Gaulin Memorial Scholarship

Deadline: April 1, 2025

Prize Value: $1,000

Who is this prize for? Scholarships are open candidates meeting the following criteria:

  • Applicants must have a clinically diagnosed mental health condition for a minimum of two years and is ongoing. Mental health conditions must be defined in the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders (DSM);
  • Applicants must be actively involved in a treatment plan with a healthcare professional, post-secondary counselling department, or other recognized mental health support services;
  • Applicants must be registered in a program of study at an accredited Canadian post-secondary college or university;
  • Applicants must be currently studying full-time and returning to full-time studies in the fall. Full-time status is at least 40% of a full course-load;
  • Applicants must be Canadian citizens or permanent residents of Canada;
  • While the foundation recognizes the intersectionality of many conditions, this program is tailored to those with significant mental health obstacles. Applicants must demonstrate mental health struggles beyond those associated with developmental disabilities, cognitive disabilities, learning disabilities, attention-deficit / hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), and autism spectrum disorder (ASD). Applicants with these conditions are encouraged to apply for alternate scholarship programs.

From the Scholarship Donor’s Website: The Sarah Gaulin Memorial Scholarship was established in honour of Sarah Gaulin, who died at age 26 after a longtime battle with mental illness. Along with her passion for Paralympic sport, Sarah actively pursued a career in the healthcare field.

Notwithstanding her health issues, Sarah persevered and continued to attend and excel in her educational field of choice. Although she battled with mental illness, she never gave up on education and her dream of one day helping others.

The scholarship seeks to support and encourage the resilience of individuals with mental illness pursuing post-secondary education, which Sarah believed strongly in.

6. Assumption Life Foundation Bursaries & Scholarships

Deadline: April 30, 2025

Prize Value: Various awards up to $10,000

Who is this prize for? To qualify for this bursary, a student must be:

  • Canadian;
  • Enrolled full time at a post-secondary learning establishment (cegep, college, university) as of next fall;
  • Have an academic average of at least 70%, and require financial aid to continue his/her studies. 

From the Scholarship Donor’s Website: Each year, the Assumption Life Foundation gives out 6-7 bursaries of $1 500 to students who attain certain academic standards and who have financial needs. In addition to the $1,500 scholarships, Assumption Life Foundation awards 7 special scholarships.

7. Charlene Reaveley Bursary

Deadline: April 15, 2025

Prize Value: $1,000

Who is this prize for? To qualify for this bursary program, applicants must meet the following criteria:

  • Grade 12 graduating student

  • Loss of a parent and/or a sibling

  • Enrolled in a certified post secondary program within the same year of graduating

  • Involved in the community/volunteer work

  • A BC Resident

From the Scholarship Donor’s Website: The Charlene Reaveley Children’s Charity recognizes graduating students who harbor the hope and potential for a brighter tomorrow in the face of adversity through the loss of a parent and/or sibling.

8. Pretty Lightroom Presets Scholarship Program

Deadline: April 15, 2025

Prize Value: $500 USD

Who is this scholarship for? The requirements for eligible student entries are:

  1. You should presently be a senior in high school;
  2. Or be transitioning from high school to a college or university;
  3. Or be already enrolled in a college or university inside the United States or Canada.

From the Scholarship Donor: Pretty Lightroom Presets recognizes the importance of higher education and the role it plays in our personal and professional fulfillment. Prize Value: Three awards of $500 each

Who is this prize for? To qualify, the student applicant on the autism spectrum must currently live in Ontario and be accepted to attend their first year in any level of a post-secondary institution (e.g. college program including apprenticeships, university, graduate) in Canada.

There is also a scholarships for students who have a sibling with autism.

10. Lift Parts Express Scholarship

Deadline: April 30, 2025

Prize Value: $500

Who is this prize for? To be eligible for this award, students have to meet the following requirements:

  • Be between the ages of 16 and 21;
  • Attend school in the upcoming fall;
  • Be a resident of the United States or Canada;
  • Have a 2.5 GPA or higher;
  • Submit an essay on this year’s topic.
